A brilliant sequel to such a fun world! Well worth the read.
Netalia did nothing wrong!
Even better than the first! Has made it a difficult wait for the third book.
In His Thrown of Embers we follow our protagonist rose in her continued story from the previous title Her Crown of Fire.
While I have found the first title to have a slow start, His Thrown of Embers picks up with the same speed we ended up in the first place, keeping me hooked to the story all the way, reading for hours at a time. Admittedly I have even been late to a date with my partner one time because I didn’t want to stop reading.
In my opinion the book is well written. It describes Roses struggles, like with her injured leg and reintegrating into a life she is not accustomed to, convincingly. She will grow with her struggles, even if she may not overcome all of them in this book. We also meet several characters from Her Crown of Fire, who have developed and lived on in our absence. Their reaction to meeting Rose again seems natural. The balance of action, interaction and exploration is good.
All in all I can highly recommend reading this book.
I have to disclose that I have received an advanced readers copy for free that this review is based on. This has not changed my opinion in any way.
Now that I wrote this review I can finally permit myself to buy the book on my own. :D
An excellent second instalment! I really do hope we won't have to wait another 5 years for the finale, but it was worth the wait.
Great follow up to book one, I can't wait for book three, it's a really interesting world with some compelling characters
