Submissions

SkyNation Publishing follows a traditional publishing model and is currently accepting unsolicited manuscripts. If you would like to submit your novel to us for consideration, please find our guidelines below:

Genre: Sci Fi/Fantasy/Historical Fiction, including sub-genres

Audience: 18+

  • as we have strong ties to the video game industry, we're looking for authors who are active gamers and can compare their manuscript to game titles
  • 80,000 - 120,000 words
  • if it is part of a series, or intended to be, it is the first instalment
  • finished, completely unpublished (including self-published) manuscripts. Your work should not be available online (including Wattpad or similar sites) or have been made available for purchase previously
  • we are not currently looking for short story collections
  • we are not accepting works that contain, or have involved, any GenAI content in any capacity

What you will need to submit:

  • query letter introducing yourself and your writing/publishing experience to us. Briefly outline the manuscript you're submitting with comp titles. In addition, this is the place to list video game comp titles as well as letting us know what you've been playing lately!
  • full synopsis that outlines the events of the entire novel. Max word count: 5,000 words.
  • the first two chapters of your manuscript; if you have a prologue, please submit it and the first chapter. They should be free of typos and grammatical errors, and should not be your first draft. In the case of extreme violence or themes, please also consider trigger warnings in your query letter.
  • A marketing plan that details any marketing plans or ideas you may have. While SNP takes on the majority of marketing, author marketing remains extremely important and valuable to the success of your published novel. This can be uploaded as a document containing brief dot points, or more in-depth plans. The SNP marketing team works closely with signed authors to assist, support, and guide their marketing endeavours.

Once your submission has been received, we will assess it in stages with other manuscripts that have also been submitted. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we cannot offer personalised rejection feedback at this time. While we endeavour to reply to all submissions, it is not always possible due to time constraints. We will contact you via your nominated email address if we'd like to read further.
